It is believed that this one-pot chicken dish originated in a village named Ghorasaran situated near the Indo Nepal border. From there it reached Bihar’s Champaran district. Where the preparation process received a new dimension. And from then onwards the popularity of the dish has spread out to the whole country.
Steps For Champaran Chicken Recipe
Champaran chicken is one of the most famous recipes in Bihar. It's easily available in Bihar but if you are outside of Bihar then it's difficult to find this recipe. But here I will share a recipe for Champaran chicken so you will make it at home.

Ingredients
- 500 gm Chicken Pieces
- 500 gm Onions sliced
- 4-5 Green Chilli
- 2 Garlic Bulbs
- 1½ tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 4-5 Dry Red Chilli
- 1 tbsp Fennel Seeds
- 1 Small Cinnamon Stick
- 4-5 Black Pepper
- 4-5 Green Cardamom
- 2 Black Cardamom
- 4-5 Cloves
- 1 tsp Chilli Flakes
- 1 tbsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tbsp Cumin Powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- Salt to Taste
- ¾ cup Mustard Oil
- ¼ cup Ghee
Instructions
- In a bowl add chicken and all ingredients that mention above.
- Mix it well and fill this mixture in a clay pot.
- Now cover with clay lid and seal with flour dough.
- Keep this pot on a very low flame for approx 1 hour.
- Now your Champaran chicken or Ahuna chicken is ready for serve.
